Digital bank Cake by VPBank (CAKE) and Dien May Xanh Investment JSC (DMX) have officially partnered to launch the Cake GlobalX international money transfer service across the nationwide store networks of The Gioi Di Dong and Dien May Xanh, starting May 5 in Ho Chi Minh City.
Through this partnership, users can register for international remittance services via the Cake app and withdraw cash directly at participating stores in accordance with VPBank’s policies. The initiative marks a significant expansion of the integrated digital banking and physical retail model, helping broaden access to financial services for consumers nationwide.
Customers receiving money from overseas simply need to visit their nearest The Gioi Di Dong or Dien May Xanh store, where staff will assist them in registering for Cake GlobalX on-site. The process is completely free of charge, requires no prior appointment, and can be completed within minutes through the Cake app. Once funds are credited to the account, customers can conveniently withdraw cash directly at the store.
As of the end of March, MWG operated 1,014 The Gioi Di Dong stores and 2,006 Dien May Xanh stores nationwide. With more than 3,000 active points of sale, the network now functions as a nationwide “ATM” ecosystem for international remittance and cash withdrawal services, particularly enhancing financial accessibility in areas with limited access to traditional banking infrastructure.
Amid the rapid growth of cross-border e-commerce, the digital economy, and freelance work, demand for remittances and international payment services in Vietnam continues to rise. The partnership between a digital banking platform and a large-scale retail network is expected to improve user experience, promote financial inclusion, and expand access to modern financial services.
Nguyen Huu Quang, CEO of Cake Digital Bank, stated that the collaboration with Dien May Xanh and The Gioi Di Dong will bring international remittance services closer to millions of Vietnamese consumers, including families with relatives abroad, freelancers, and cross-border e-commerce merchants. According to him, Cake GlobalX aims to provide a fast, transparent, and cost-efficient remittance solution.
From DMX’s perspective, deploying Cake GlobalX across its store network not only broadens the range of financial services available at retail locations, but also reflects the growing convergence between digital banking and physical retail networks to deliver more seamless and accessible financial experiences for consumers.
Previously, at the end of 2024, MWG and VPBank signed a strategic partnership agreement to roll out ATM-style services for deposits, withdrawals, and money transfers across the nationwide The Gioi Di Dong and Dien May Xanh store systems.
